Agenda Item: Safeguarding the Galaxy: Addressing the Preservation of the Moon and Developing International Rules for Lunar Resource Utilization and Preventing Geopolitical Rivalry

Nobody owns the Moon. Not yet, anyway. But as private companies launch missions, as the Artemis Accords gather signatories, and as the language of "resource utilization" enters treaty drafts, that may not stay true for long. The 1967 Outer Space Treaty was written for a world of two spacefaring states; today's world has dozens of actors and far fewer shared assumptions.

UNOOSA exists to close that gap before it widens into conflict. Delegates in this room will be negotiating the terms under which humanity extends itself beyond Earth, and every clause they write now becomes precedent for every mission that follows. This is where the next frontier gets its rulebook, or doesn't.
